A wonderful requiem that consoles and touches the heart. The Requiem is one of Gabriel Fauré's most beloved classical compositions. Composer Jo Sporck's new piano concerto, Into Silence, can also be heard on the night. Sporck excels in poetic music that is extraordinarily subtle, with a strong sense of polyphony and spatiality. The South Netherlands Philharmonic and Studium Chorale are conducted by Ed Spanjaard. The young piano talent, Mattias Spee, is the soloist.
