Grote KerkOslo Sinfonietta is regarded as the most prominent ensemble for contemporary music in Norway. It was founded in 1986 and focuses on a broad repertoire. From Claude Debussy to Louis Andriessen and from Helmut Lachenmann to Kaija Saariaho. The Norwegian ensemble presents a special programme in the Grote Kerk around brand new work by Rebecca Saunders. The ensemble also plays a new composition by the Norwegian composer Øyvind Torvund. To create his often humoristic and virtuoso work, he mixes influences such as rock, free improvisation, playful electronica, and daily life.
