The flamboyant and spiritual style of the English painter J.M.W. Turner continues to ignite the imagination. Turner's intense colour studies and sketches inspired John Zorn to compose a variegated and epic suite of pianoworks. Those who are in the know may detect playful references to the composers Iannis Xenakis, György Ligeti, Claude Debussy, J.S. Bach, Philip Glass, Morton Feldman and Cecil Taylor. Pianist Stephen Gosling throws himself into Zorn's kaleidoscopic piano fantasies.
