Transporting this rich medley from ear to eye is A/V composer and software designer Tarik Barri.
Sote Ata Ebtekar, better known as Sote, is an electronic music composer and sound artist based in Tehran, Iran. His wide-ranging love of rich sounds and textures is embodied in diverse paths such as hardcore club sounds, collaborations that straddle (traditional) acoustic and electronic instrumentation, and solo experimental electronics β making Ebtekar equally at home in concert halls, galleries, or clubs. Over the last two decades, he has released on labels such as Warp, Sub Rosa, Morphine, Diagonal, and Opal Tapes. Ebtekarβs compositions and installations weave expansive sonic tales that exhibit a strong engagement with electro-acoustic techniques, sound design, microtonal systems, and polyrhythmic motifs. His vivid soundscapes employ various synthesis strategies and DSP.
Audiovisual composer and software developer Tarik Barri projects and striking live visuals for the likes of Thom Yorke, Monolake, and Nicolas Jaar have garnered much critical acclaim. Born in Holland and currently based in Berlin, Barri started programming and making electronic music at a young age. After releasing his first track as a university student in biological psychology, he transferred to the Utrecht School of the Arts to pursue a degree in audio design. There, he began exploring the ways in which music-making technologies could be applied in the creation of moving images. Today, Barri uses tools like Max/MSP, Java, and Supercollider to develop software for audiovisual performance and composition, searching for new synergies and aesthetics in the combination of image and sound.
