During the annual festival-within-a-festival Colors of Improvisation, musicians jump across borders, conjure up sparkling timbres to their heart's content and give an ingenious twist to jazz, world music and classical music. This year the Moroccan oud player Driss El Maloumi will perform with a classical string quintet and Arabic percussion. Spanish pianist Daniel García Diego combines elements from flamenco, jazz, contemporary music and Armenian folk with his brand new sextet including Reinier Baas on guitar.
