The call of the Orient seduces you as soon as you hear the Iranian singer Mahsa Vahdat. Very famous in her own country, Vahdat is indeed well-known around the world. Earlier, she collaborated with jazz pianist Tord Gustavsen and the famous Kronos Quartet. The Amsterdam Sinfonietta has put together a variegated concert programme in collbaoration with Vahdat. The intimate string sounds reinforce the serenity and nostalgia that echo in her songs. As well as vocal works for Vahdat, the composers Aftab Darvishi and Niloufar Nourbakhsh are writing new works for the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Pieces by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt will also be heard.
